Fall 2020 Update on SAT

June 3, 2020

The Colorado Department of Education (CDE) and College Board (the SAT vendor) are working together to provide seniors in the Class of 2021 an opportunity to participate in the SAT this fall at no cost. This opportunity will be optional for students and is dependent on funding being made available by the state legislature.

Due to evolving COVID-19 health guidance and safety guidelines, Jeffco is not yet able to finalize details for SAT fall testing. Jeffco high schools are working to determine whether SAT school-day testing can occur with current health and safety protocols as defined by the Jefferson County Department of Public Health, as well as the test administration guidelines from College Board. Depending on how health guidance evolves, testing may occur for seniors on a school day in the fall, or students may be provided with vouchers to redeem for Saturday testing.

If SAT school-day testing can occur, the school will communicate with students and families with further details and next steps.

If SAT school-day testing cannot occur, test vouchers will be available for seniors that will allow them to take the SAT at no cost on one of three designated weekend days (August 29, September 26, or October 3). Seniors will be prioritized for Saturday testing this fall. If a student registers for the SAT on one of the designated weekend dates before the vouchers are made available, there is no guarantee any fees will be refunded. CDE will provide schools with SAT test vouchers over the summer that can be used on one of the designated weekend dates. The timeline for delivery of these vouchers is not yet available.
