District Accountability Committee (DAC) is a district level accountability and advisory committee composed of members approved by the Board of Education. Membership is made up of parent representatives from all articulation areas including charter and option parents, PTA, at least one member of the business community and district staff. DAC members act in an advisory capacity on such topics as the district’s budget and unified improvement plan as provided by law. Members have the opportunity to hear updates on district issues/efforts and provide input on many topics.
DAC members serve two years on the committee and may serve additional terms if positions are open and they continue to meet the requirements of membership. Community members may apply to the committee in the spring.
DAC includes several subcommittees and members are encouraged to take an active role in one of the subcommittees:
- FSCP (Family School Community Partnership): this subcommittee meets at least monthly; other meetings may be scheduled to help facilitate the work of the subcommittee.
- DUIP (District Unified Improvement Plan): this subcommittee meets at least monthly; other meetings may be scheduled to help facilitate the work of the subcommittee.
- Budget: this subcommittee meets at least monthly; other meetings may be scheduled to help facilitate the work of the subcommittee.
- Charter Review: this subcommittee meets on an as needed basis when charter school applications are submitted to the district in the Spring.
- Articulation Area Representatives: This group meets monthly at the end of the monthly DAC meeting. Other meetings may be scheduled to help facilitate the work of the group. DAC articulation area representatives work closely with their articulation area School Accountability Committees (SACs).
Time commitment: monthly, third Tuesday, 5:30-7:30 p.m. In addition to the monthly meetings, DAC members attend subcommittee meetings. Subcommittee Chairs additionally attend monthly DAC executive committee meetings.
Roles: The DAC is composed of a Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, Subcommittee Chairs (subcommittee chairs make up the executive committee), AARs (articulation area representatives), Board of Education and Superintendent appointees.
