Jeffco Public Schools has named David Suppes Interim Chief Operating Officer, effective January 18. A seasoned finance and operations executive with more than 30 years of experience, David will provide interim leadership to Jeffco’s Facilities and Maintenance, Food and Nutrition Services, and Transportation teams. Moving forward, Athletics and Activities will be supervised by the Chief of Schools and the Department of School Safety will report to the Deputy Superintendent.
David most recently served as an operational and financial executive in K-12 education and the private sector. He served as Chief Operating Officer for Denver Public Schools (DPS) where he led finance, information technology, planning and strategy, choice and enrollment services, school policy, transportation, facilities, safety and food and nutrition services in support of students across 200 schools. He also led the district’s 2008, 2012 and 2016 bond programs. Prior to joining DPS, he has served in senior finance and business executive roles for Level 3 Communications and Staples.
David earned a finance degree from Arizona State University. He has served on several community boards including as board treasurer for Metro Caring, the strategic planning 2020 committee for Denver Kids Inc., and the Governor’s Early Childhood Leadership Commission. Outside of work, David enjoys cooking, cycling, skiing, hiking and traveling.
David will serve as COO in an interim capacity and a search is expected to commence by February 1 for a permanent leader.
