Any Kindergarten teacher can tell you students show up on the first day of school with many differences. Students have different abilities and needs, and we have decades of education research which confirms the biggest indicators of student success are related to out-of-school factors and the student's environment.
Our schools do a lot for our kids and incredible learning breakthroughs happen on a daily basis in Jeffco. But our schools can't solve all of the problems for our kids, our families, and our community alone. Students who are hungry, scared, abused, in pain, and neglected are not learning. As a community, we must resolve that we will allow no child in our community to have these barriers stand between them and their future.
