Because of the constraints put upon us by the COVID pandemic, administering additional testing may be problematic. If testing is possible, there may be significant delays. As always, families may submit additional data if they have that available which we will consider as part of the child’s Body of Evidence (BOE). The timeline for identification could possibly take significantly longer than in past years.

Jeffco’s GT Department identifies students as gifted at all of our district neighborhood, charter and option schools in all grades K-12 as per Colorado Department of Education (CDE) guidelines.  Some students who are identified as gifted qualify for an Advanced Learning Plan (ALP) Additionally, some students who qualify as gifted may be eligible for enrollment at one of our GT Center schools.  The application processes for GT identification and for GT Center school access are both similar, yet distinct.

NOTE: The structure of primary grades (1st & 2nd grades) enrollment may vary at each GT Center depending on each school’s enrollment and staffing capacity at those grade levels.  Some schools may need to combine primary grade levels, cluster small groups of students or adopt some other configuration to accommodate GT Center students in these grades.  No matter the configuration, we will ensure that the academic and affective needs of GT students will be met.

GT Identification Referral: This form should be completed for students who are only seeking GT identification for an Advanced Learning Plan (ALP), and not interested in attending a GT Center school. (This GT Identification Referral is open year round).  For more information on our process, please see the GT ID Referral Flowchart.

For all application processes, parents will also need to complete the GT Parent Narrative, which is a separate form.

2020-21 Parent Narrative

Both GT Identification Referral and GT Center Application decisions are based on a Body of Evidence, including both qualitative and quantitative data.  Please see our GT Identification & Assessments page for more information on the ID process in Jeffco.  Testing data should be within the last two years to be considered for an ALP or GT Center qualification.

If you have additional outside testing data (WISC IV, DAS, Stanford-Binet, other cognitive/IQ testing, etc..) you would like us to consider for the application, please send to:
