D'Evelyn Junior/Senior High School

Program Description

D'Evelyn was founded in 1994 as a liberal arts secondary school (grades 7-12) based on the belief that students should study an essential body of cultural knowledge. D'Evelyn is committed to the premise that mastery of the skills and knowledge acquired through the study of the core academic subjects is the foundation for all subsequent learning. Independence, analytical reasoning, based on objective knowledge, is an essential skill and is encouraged throughout the program. Behavior standards are clearly defined and enforced. The arts, athletics and extracurricular activities are encouraged.

Eligibility and Enrollment Process

  • Grades 7 to 12
  • D'Evelyn, accredited as a college preparatory school, accepts students on a lottery basis.
  • Parents must attend one of three annual information meetings prior to placing their student on the lottery list.

North Area Option School

Program Description

As a public “school of choice within a school,” the North Area Option School will operate as an integral-yet-separate instructional program at Arvada High School. As such, it will feature a rigorous college preparatory curriculum delivered in a highly disciplined environment. That curricular focus is based on a belief that students should be able to choose a course of study centered around an essential, demanding body of knowledge. The school is committed to the premise that mastery of that body or knowledge acquired through intense study of core academic subjects will prepare students for equally challenging experiences at the university level and beyond.

Eligibility and Enrollment Information

  • Grades 9 to 12
  • There is an application process including teacher recommendations.
  • 50% of enrollment will come from Arvada High School, the other 50% comes from the district.

Wheat Ridge High School – GT Center Programming - PEAK

Academic rigor combined with individualized programming and mentoring in fields of interest will provide learners with differentiated opportunities to develop their potential and become self-directed, responsible citizens leading productive, fulfilling lives. GT Peak programming will effectively employ research-based strategies designed to increase student achievement and nurture autonomous learners.
