On Wednesday, October 24th, 2018, The Jefferson County Workforce, in partnership with Jeffco Career Links, hosted the 3rd Annual Sophomore Career Expo at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds.
Students from 22 area Jeffco high schools were able to explore a range of career opportunities with hands-on, interactive booths from 47 exhibitors in the following industries:
- Business, Marketing, & Public Administration
- Hospitality, Human Services & Education
- Agriculture, Natural Resources & Energy
- STEM, Arts, Design & Information Technology
- Skilled Trades & Technical Sciences
- Health Science, Criminal Justice & Public Safety
In addition to the industries above, the Career Expo featured programs from area community colleges and 29 Warren Tech CTE programs ranging from fire science, culinary, and design. Exhibits included hands-on experiences such as a flight simulation from the Colorado Pilots Association, app design with HomeAdvisor, bricklaying with Baker Concrete Construction, and virtual reality simulation with Lockheed Martin Space. Other exhibits included High Timber Alpaca Ranch, NREL, Xcel Energy, Colorado Public Defender, Marriott Denver West, Duluth Trading Company, Janus Henderson Investors, Westerra Credit Union, Hensel Phelps, Denver Pipefitters Joint Apprenticeship and more!
This event was free to students with the generous sponsorship and grant funding from Red Rocks Community College and Jefferson County Workforce.
