The sun was shining up in Evergreen as Principal Matt Cormier welcomed a small group of staff, district leaders, and community members for the official ribbon cutting of the Wilmot Elementary School addition.

With Interim Superintendent Kristopher Schuh and Board President Susan Harmon in attendance and sharing words of excitement to the community, it was truly a day about family.

Principal Cormier passed off the honors of cutting the official ribbon to a very special Wilmot family. Two parents who both attended the school and now have two young daughters who are current Wilmot Wildcats. The young girls (with some parental assistance) cut the ribbon in style and welcomed in attendees for socially distanced tours of the addition.

For Principal Cormier, bringing in natural light and a sense of the outdoors was critical in the design of the new addition. And with huge foothills facing windows in the cafeteria, outdoor-inspired tile work, and gym skylights, this addition truly celebrates the natural beauty of Evergreen.

The renovations at Wilmot Elementary included a 13,000 square foot state-of-the-art gymnasium and a new commercial kitchen and cafeteria. Extensive renovations to the existing building also included new LED lighting throughout and a new fire alarm system.

On Friday during the school day, Wilmot students were given tours of the new addition by Principal Cormier himself. Sharing in the excitement of this new space with all of his Wilmot Wildcats.
