Free Horizon Montessori joined schools from around the world to celebrate International Walk to School Day on May 9.
Approximately 100 students, parents, staff and community leaders from Free Horizon Montessori walked and rolled to school. The Golden Police Department was on hand to walk with the students and visit with the students.
Walk to School Day events raise awareness of the need to create safer routes for walking and bicycling and emphasize the importance of issues such as increasing physical activity among children, pedestrian safety, traffic congestion and concern for the environment. The events build connections between families, schools and the broader community.
This is the seventh year Free Horizon Montessori has hosted this event. It started off and continues to be an opportunity to build community and excite students about being outdoors and simply walking to school with their friends.
