On August 25, Green Mountain High School (GMHS) hosted the 10th Annual
Ram Run 5K Run/Walk. The event was started by cross country and track coach, Clint Boston, and former GMHS athletic director, Jim Thyfault. Their vision was to allow each participant to donate a portion of their registration fee directly to the sport, club, or activity of their choice. However, the Ram Run is more than a fundraiser; it’s a community-building event that involves Lakewood businesses, local sponsors, and the Green Mountain area feeder schools. To encourage participation, the feeder school with the most participants wins a “traveling trophy.” This year Dunstan Middle School was the winner!
Principal Colleen Owens commemorated the event’s longevity, saying “School fundraising runs often come and go, so the fact that we are celebrating a decade of success is a testament to the organizers, Clint Boston and Heather Boston, and the RamNation community’s continued support.”
Over the decade, the Ram Run has netted over $80,000 that has gone directly to coaches and club/activity sponsors to use for their programs.
