Mt. Carbon Students Participate in Heartland Hero Essay Contest
This past month, Mount Carbon 5th grade students participated in the Heartland Hero Essay Contest. This contest began several years ago to honor a local hero, Jason Dahl, Captain of Flight 93, who gave his life on September 11, 2011, for his fellow Americans. Students learned a brief history of this day in history and a bit about Jason to inspire them to honor heroes in their lives. As always, our students amazed us with what they shared. Although it is always a challenging decision, we were able to narrow it down to three winners. Congratulations to Adeline Hayes, Jackson Kenney, and Peyton Petrone. These three students shared heartfelt thought and feelings, and what we most enjoyed were the life lessons they forwarded to their own peers.
