Official Election Call for Nominations

Jeffco Public Schools is excited to announce the Call for Nominations for the Office of School Director. This is an opportunity for two individuals to make a difference in our community and carry out the district’s mission – to provide a world-class education that prepares all Jeffco students for bright and successful futures as local and global citizens. School board members act as representatives for their community and create local policy that helps shape the school system.

Interested Candidates

In the upcoming, regular biennial (every other year) school district coordinated election on Tuesday, November 7, two directors will be elected each serving a four-year term and representing specific districts across Jeffco including: 

  • District 3 candidate representing Arvada, Wheat Ridge and north-central Lakewood
  • District 4 candidate representing central and south-central Lakewood and Edgewater

To qualify, candidates must be residents of the director district they wish to represent and have been registered electors of the school district for at least 12 consecutive months before the election. 

Please note: Individuals convicted of committing a sexual offense against a child are ineligible to run for school director.

If you're interested in being a candidate, please follow these steps:

  • File a written notice of intention to be a candidate.
  • Gather at least 50 signatures from eligible electors who are registered to vote in the regular biennial school election.
  • Candidates will need to pick up their nomination petitions and necessary materials in person during regular business hours Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m. from Jeffco’s Education Center in Golden, CO between August 9 - September 1. You will enter the guest entrance and check-in at the front desk.

  • Candidates will submit their petitions in person at the above address, Jeffco’s Education Center by 4:30 p.m. on September 1, 2023. Enter through the guest entrance and check-in at the front desk.
