What is the name of your team? What division is your team a part of?
The Food and Nutrition Services team is part of the Division of Business Operations.
How many employees are on your team?
Our team consists of 485 employees.
A day in the life: What types of projects does your team do daily?
Here are some of our current projects and initiatives:
- A pilot project taking place in three of our schools which includes scratch cooking; the use of local ingredients, fresh fruits and vegetables.
- Healthy School Meals for All - Breakfast and lunch at no cost to Jeffco families this school year.
- Review and upgrade kitchen facilities with new equipment for improved student service.
- A touchless salad bar will be piloted at Jefferson Jr./Sr. High School; they will partner with East Denver Food Hub to provide local produce; a touchless salad bar is a more sanitary option that reduces waste in comparison to a traditional salad bar.
What is your big-term goal or project this year?
The successful completion of Administration Review (AR), which is a Federal requirement of the School Nutrition program. This audit is conducted by the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) once every five years.
The review encompasses a comprehensive assessment of our records pertaining to meal applications, reimbursement claims, financial records, all procurement transactions, compliance with federal and state policies and onsite observations.
Share something you are most proud of when it comes to your team or share a proud moment about your team that happened recently.
A proud moment is how our team adapted so quickly to a 50% student increase in our lunch program along with a 37% student increase in our breakfast program as a result of the Healthy School Meals for All initiative.
What fun team hobby/outing does your team participate in?
Our team enjoys each other’s company by engaging in Fantasy Football and March Madness leagues, monthly social gatherings and our White Elephant Holiday Party!
