AURORA, Colo. Aug. 25, 2023Children’s Hospital Colorado (Children’s Colorado) has announced one of the biggest sports medicine partnerships in the hospital’s history. Sports Medicine Center athletic trainers are now embedded at Jeffco Public Schools (Jeffco) to ensure students thrive while playing the sports they love.

"Children’s Colorado is always seeking ways to deliver outstanding healthcare that caters to kids’ needs, which is why we’re so excited to announce this partnership with Jeffco Public Schools," said Christy Dobson, Vice President, Board and Community Relations. "This partnership will impact thousands of student athletes, providing them with state-of-the-art sports medicine care."

As part of the partnership, 23 Children’s Colorado athletic trainers will be the main medical providers onsite at 18 high schools across the Jeffco district. This support will include access to care during practices and games for fall, winter and spring sports. Beyond that, families can also hear from athletic trainers at parent and coaches’ meetings on topics like mental health, nutrition, hydration, concussion, injury prevention and more. Helpful educational content will also be available digitally, shared via newsletters, social media and on the Jeffco Public Schools website.

"We are thrilled about our partnership with Children’s Colorado and providing Jeffco student athletes and their families access to top care in support of their physical and mental health," Superintendent Tracy Dorland said. "Jeffco Public Schools aspires to be a world-class school district that provides our students with extraordinary experiences – in academics and arts, athletics and beyond – making our partnership a natural extension of that commitment."
