Licensed Educators

Jeffco Public Schools believes a licensed educator experiences significant gains and development in their craft during the beginning years of their profession. To reflect these initial gains, and while there is a competitive increase in compensation with each incremental Step, there is accelerated growth in compensation built into the Educator Salary Schedule for teachers and special service providers early in their careers.

In addition to licensed work experience, higher education also plays a critical role in excellence of performance as a teacher or special service provider. The Licensed Educator Salary Schedule has been designed to reward this concept. As a licensed teacher or special service provider completes higher incremental thresholds of graduate level credits and a Master's degree, they will be eligible to progress to higher salary lanes via a monthly Lane Change Application (Lane Change Matrix) process.  All degrees must be obtained from an accredited program and official transcripts will need to be submitted in order for a degree and additional credit hours to be evaluated and awarded.  The Lane thresholds are:

  • Lane 1 (L01) - Bachelor’s Degree - $50,000.00
  • Lane 2 (L02) - Bachelor's Degree with 18 graduate credit hours - $52,000.00
  • Lane 3 (L03) - Master’s Degree - $54,080.00
  • Lane 4 (L04) - Master's Degree with 60 graduate credit hours - $56,243.20
  • Lane 5 (L05) - Master's Degree with 75 graduate credit hours - $58,492.93
  • Lane 6 (L06) - Master's Degree with 90 graduate credit hours - $59,662.79

For licensed teachers or special service providers new to the District, Jeffco credits up to 8 years of qualified experience for a maximum initial placement of up to Step 9. New employees must submit all relevant experience and official transcripts via the Online Onboarding process within 15 days of their hire date to receive placement credit. Jeffco grants credit per assignment in full and half year increments. Total applicable years of service are combined, and rounded down to the nearest full year.

  • Full credit: Worked full time (at least 0.75 FTE) for at least 75% of the school year.
  • Half credit: Worked part time (0.50 FTE or more) for at least 75% of the school year.
