Study Abroad

Jeffco Public Schools does not offer its own study abroad program for high school students, but study abroad opportunities exist. Some schools offer short-term student exchanges, and students interested in a semester or year of study abroad should contact one of Jeffco's approved Exchange Agencies listed on this page.

Approved Exchange Agencies

The agencies listed on this page have been approved by Jeffco Public Schools to place international students in the district's high schools. All agencies must reapply with Jeffco for approval each year. Read More.

The J1 Visa Agencies are also approved by the Council on Standards for International Educational Travel (CSIET), a private, not-for-profit organization which establishes standards for, monitors, and disseminates information about reputable international travel, education and exchange programs.

Lakewood Sister Cities Exchange with Australia and Rotary Youth Exchange are not approved by CSIET. However, they have been approved by Jeffco Public Schools, as they are Jefferson County civic organizations and are expected to comply with all other requirements which apply to international exchange organizations. For more information on the approval of exchange agencies, please see Jeffco Board Policy JFABB-R.
