Jeffco Public School is committed to providing a clear view of how tax dollars are spent and how we operate.

Jeffco is the second largest school district in Colorado, serving 78,000 students in our district-run and charter schools combined. In 2021-22, the district appropriated $764,674,694 in general fund expenditures before transfers, as of the January 2022 revised budget and appropriation. These general fund expenditures are a core source of funding to serve the approximately 67,000 students in grades Kindergarten to 12th who attend district-run schools.

The grants fund provides additional funding each year for our core programming. The child care fund includes expenditures related to the approximately 2,000 students in Pre-kindergarten who attend district-run schools.

To understand why adding appropriations for all funds does not equal total district expenditures, see "Understanding Total Appropriations and Why Schools Focus on the General Fund for Budgeting."
