Alternative Schools

Jeffco Public Schools offers a variety of non-traditional school options. Below are the schools that have programs for students that may be struggling in traditional school settings due to attendance, discipline, or other challenges.  

In addition to the schools below, there are schools that have a specific academic focus (D'Evelyn, Jeffco Open, Manning), special services for students with emotional or physical challenges (Sobesky, Fletcher Miller), virtual learning opportunities (Jeffco Virtual Academy), and more. Project Based and remote learning programs for students in 10th grade and above who have dropped out or are not successful in a traditional high school. Interested students must participate in  a virtual information session and should provide a copy of transcript, IEP, or 504 if applicable

Bridge is a part-time, online-only education based out of Brady Exploration. It allows students who have dropped out of school to continue to earn credit while they are waiting to enroll in another school option or to graduate if they have close to 23 credits. The Connections Learning Center offers an educational experience for students who have been expelled from Jeffco Public Schools or who are interested in an alternative learning opportunity. Connections Learning Center provides a small, structured educational setting for students in grades 6 - 9. We maintain continuity in the curriculum by following the same curriculum alignment project as the neighborhood schools. Students participate in a comprehensive service learning program that focuses on building self-esteem, empathy and communication skills. Students are referred to CLC from their current school or other school officials. Referral from homeschool required.

Gateway to College at Front Range Community College

A dropout prevention and recovery program for students 16 to 20 years old with at least 6 credits. All classes are taken at Front Range Community College. Students earn high school credits towards a Jeffco Public Schools diploma plus college credits. Must attend an information session and complete the application process.

Long View High School

Long View High School's mission is is to provide a small, safe, and nurturing school for students who do not find success in large high schools, to educate and empower them to become caring, contributing citizens and life-long learners who think deeply and critically about issues affecting their lives, communities, the nation, and the world. The primary alternative that Long View offers is the small size which allows staff to get to know the students, their needs and their learning styles. Our small size and separate campus help to promote a strong sense of safety, belonging, and community. Our many guest speakers, hands-on activities, and weekly field experiences engage students in their learning and growth.


MyPath at Sobesky Academy

MyPath provides a small, supportive classroom for students with IEPs in 11th grade or up who need to recover credits. Curriculum is online.  Students can work in the MyPath classroom during either the morning or afternoon session, can work from home, or can work on MyPath classes from their neighborhood high school.

Unique opportunities for young parents, former dropouts, and students working full-time to earn high school credits and a diploma. 10th grade and up. The Lakewood Campus is open 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m., Monday – Thursday and 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., Friday.

ACE, Achieve and Live: see program descriptions below. Students interested in ACE, Achieve or Live will need to apply online.  After applying and upon receiving an invitation, the student and parent/guardian must attend an information session.

ACE - for students in 10th grade and up who have not been successful in a traditional school.

Achieve - for students in 10th grade and up, focus on Career and Technical education, flexible schedule that combines well with Warren Tech.

 

JCAPPP- Jefferson County Pregnancy and Parenting Program- attached to Achieve, provides support to pregnant and parenting students. Child Care facility on site.

Live - for 9th and 10th graders. Can transfer into another McLain program or another school after 10th grade.

CB Adult High School Program: for students 18 and older who have completed at least their junior year. Day or nighttime schedule. Some fees apply.  Students interested in the CB Learning Community will need to apply online and attend one of the Adult Learning Community Student Registrations. Diploma and GED pathways available. 

Jeffco Virtual Academy

Traditional Program 

Free, online/blended learning through Jeffco Public Schools. Can attend full time or part time with enrollment at homeschool. Credit recovery is also available. Apply online.  

TAG (Targeted Actions to Graduation) 

A specialized online program for 11th and 12th graders ages 17-21, with 10 or more credits. Designed to provide smaller class sizes, a dedicated group of content teachers and a strong sense of community. Individualized support sessions on Tuesdays. A quarter credit system allows students to work toward credit recovery and accelerated credit advancement. Families can apply online or students can be referred by their school counselor or administrator.

 

Jeffco Remote Learning Program

In the midst of one of the most challenging school years in our nation's history (2020-21), Jefferson County Public Schools made the decision to build upon its experience in remote learning by embarking on the creation of the Jeffco Remote Learning Program. As a compliment to Jeffco's widely successful 6-12 Virtual Academy, the PK-12 Remote Learning Program focuses on a remote experience with a greater degree of structure, as well as increased student and teacher engagement, while also leveraging the unique opportunities and best practices of remote learning.

Based out of Littleton Public Schools Education Services Center, Next Littleton is an effort of love and collaboration between three school districts and one college partner: Arapahoe Community College, Englewood Schools, Littleton Public Schools, and Jefferson County Public Schools. The site has rolling enrollment and can serve roughly 120 students from the participating districts.

NEXT Arvada

NEXT Arvada is nestled in the heart of the Red Rocks Community College Arvada Campus. The program boasts a strong partnership with Jefferson County Public Schools and Red Rocks Community College. The site can serve nearly 120 students from Jefferson County Public Schools, and other participating districts. Program perks cover:
